ZS Beyond the Court – YU Sports Teams

Join us “Beyond the Court” as we support young Jewish athletes growing in both their game and their Yiddishkeit.

Your donation helps fund daily team Shacharis with breakfast and player-led Divrei Torah, community-wide team Shabbatons, Siyumim, a Daf-A-Thon, inspirational speakers, inspirational chizuk trips, a peer-buddy learning/growth program with the team and fellow YU students, and motivational spiritual growth challenges. It also provides essential Judaica that players wouldn't otherwise buy—including Tefillin, Tzitzis, Yarmulkes, Siddurim, Lulav & Esrog sets, and Menorahs.

This season

A look at our progress

In Zevi’s words.

Team Shacharis

We have a team Shacharis after practice each day with breakfast, where the guys on the team rotate to give a powerful D’var Torah.

Team Shabbatons

We have team Shabbatons throughout the season, especially when we have a game on Motzei Shabbos. A lot of the guys won’t have a Shabbos experience at all unless we create a team environment. We have held community-wide team Shabbatons in Lakewood, Inwood, and Monsey. We’ve had many team Shabbatons at my house as well as a team Shabbaton in upstate New York, and we plan on expanding these this year.

Siyumim

We also had a very inspiring siyum where Roy and I finished Olam HaMiddos after 3 years. We also had a team Daf-A-Thon where we finished Maseches Taanis. Elliot and I finished Tehillim. During halftime at each game, we learned a perek of Tehillim together. Matti and I finished Maseches Megillah together. B’ezras Hashem, there is so much more coming! We hope to make many Siyumim throughout the year with different guys accomplishing their learning goals.

Buddy System

We are creating a buddy system where frum guys in YU who aren’t on the team are partnered up with team members. A lot of the guys who aren’t as religious don’t interact much with the religious guys at YU, and I want to change that. These buddies will help team members take their religious growth to the next level by coming to Shacharis to help them daven, learning together throughout the week, and serving as a supportive guide to help them grow.

Chizuk Trips

We had awesome team chizuk trips, and I want to continue them and do so much more. We went to the Ohel, the Ribnitzer, OU Headquarters, the ArtScroll factory, the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation, Yad Leah, Matzah Factory, BMG, Bikor Cholim Lakewood, Hatzalah Lakewood, and Rabbi Joey Haber's house. We also brought in several big speakers to talk to our team at Shacharis. B’ezras Hashem, there is so much more coming!

Growth Challenges

We had awesome growth challenges this year, and we want to expand them this coming year. We had an 8-week Shabbos challenge, a 5-week Tzitzis challenge, an 8-week Tefillin challenge in addition to our team Shacharis, and different challenges for coming to Shacharis on time, davening for the amud, or laining.

Jewish Necessities

A lot of the guys don’t have basic Jewish necessities, such as Tefillin, Tzitzis, Yarmulkes, Siddurim, a Lulav and Esrog, or a Menorah. They aren’t at a religious level where they would spend their own money on these items, but they will use them if they are provided.

The Future Plans

ZS Beyond the Court is a nonprofit organization led by Zevi Samet with one goal: to inspire Jews to connect more deeply to Hashem, each on their own level, through meaningful programming—both on and off the court.

Proven Impact & Ongoing Growth

Zevi has shared over 1,500 videos across various platforms, bringing Torah inspiration to Jews globally—and is excited to continue expanding with Hashem's help.

Media & Content Creation

Zevi is eager to expand his podcast by interviewing people that have made a huge impact on his life. This podcast has no limits, which is why Zevi plans to interview tremendous Rebbeim, asking them questions about chinuch, self-growth and more!

Mitzvah Initiatives & Tools

ZS Beyond the Court helps provide essential Yiddishkeit items such as tefillin, tzitzis, seforim, and Shabbos necessities – alongside high-engagement Shnayim Mikra, davening, Shabbos, learning and other Mitzvah challenges designed to inspire continued growth in Torah and mitzvos.

Live Inspiration

Creating memorable tish’s and kumzitzes with music, food, and Torah to provide lasting chizzuk.

Publishing Seforim

Turning Zevi’s last five years of written parsha insights and speeches into published seforim through a dedicated editing and production team.

Building a Support Team

Creating a website, app, and back-end team to manage logistics so Zevi can maximize his impact worldwide while staying dedicated to his learning and basketball.

Zevi’s Learning Growth

Zevi is committed to continually deepening his own Torah knowledge. By hiring dedicated 1-on-1 chavrusas to advance his high-level learning, he will acquire the tools and depth needed to share even more impactful Torah with Klal Yisroel.

At just 23, Zevi is driven to maximize his learning, excel on the court, and inspire Klal Yisroel—but he can’t do it alone. We need YOU on the ZS Beyond the Court team!

Together, we can inspire more Jews, create more opportunities for connection, and show what it looks like to live proudly and passionately as a Torah Jew.
